Volunteer

Living out our christian life is more than just coming to church. It's opening our hearts and hands. It's giving our time and energy. It's caring for and comforting those in need. Essentially, it's showing Christ's love to our world, every chance we get. Wake. Show. Tell. Involve. Repeat. 

Each Sunday we have a Counting Team that adds up and deposits the weekly offerings.  If you’d like to join our Counting Team (your obligation would be approximately 1 time per month), please call the Church Office at 734-282-9222 and leave a message for Ron McIntyre.

We Need You!
Do you enjoy talking to people and/or helping people feel welcome? If you believe you have a heart for service to our visitors and members, we need you! We are always looking for volunteers for our Hospitality Team.  We rotate responsibilities so that each team member will be on duty perhaps 1-2 times each month.  We will of course work around your schedule!
Some of the responsibilities of the hospitality team will include:
1. Greeting visitors/newcomers as soon as they walk in the door on Sunday. Make sure that their needs are met (I.e., bulletin; pew packet for any minor children; coffee; pointing out restroom locations, etc.)
2. Send follow up notes to visitors within 24 hours after the service.
3. Follow up calls with potential new members / visitors
4. Work the "Information Desk" on Sunday and during any special service
5. Other duties as requested by Pastor Steve.

From time to time we host/prepare dinners for outside groups.  If you are interested in serving at these dinners, or if you’d like to be a part of the clean up crew, we’d love to have you!
Funeral Dinners
A wonderful way to honor our loved ones is by being of service to others.  We are always looking for volunteers to (1) provide dishes to pass (2) set up tables (3) serve food and (4) clean up.   If you’re interested in joining the “kitchen crew,” please leave a message for Pam Ong, our funeral dinner coordinator, at the Church office:  734-282-9222.
Help with Coffee/Tea/Cookies after Concerts/Special Events
From time to time we will have receptions following our special events, such as our Choir Cantata.  If you would like to join this team, please contact the Church office at 734-282-9222.

Would you like to serve as an Usher during Sunday service?  Our current rotation allows that you would only need to serve one time per month.  It’s a great way to get to know your fellow Church members and it’s a great way to meet newcomers!   If you are interested in serving as an Usher, please leave a message for Karey Gruden, Usher Coordinator, at the Church office:  734-282-9222.

Are you interested in helping on Sunday, but don't want to sing?  We are in need of new members on our "Tech Team".  This team runs the lights, sound, video, the live broadcast to Facebook and YouTube - anything electronic!  If you'd like to help, please call the Church office at 734-282-9222

The Gospel is enacted through the local church all across the world. The church is us: people who love Jesus serving others by parking cars, holding babies, to praying with others, pouring coffee, and opening their homes.   Every week at Wyandotte First UMC, we are given the opportunity to practice putting our attention less on ourselves and more on others. We will not be perfect. We may find ourselves serving in an area that doesn't match our gifting and need to adjust. We may also find we love a group of people or an area of ministry more than we thought we could. Either way, we jump in and start..
