Memorial Committee
The Memorial Fund was created as a way of keeping memories of members and loved ones alive through the purchase of suitable memorials with the money received. Memorials can make our church more functional and beautiful. Memorials are something to be shared with others. Memorial gifts can be given at the funeral homes or directly to the church. A card is sent to those who donated. The Memorial Committee is responsible for the fund and carrying out the wishes of the loved one's family.
Memorial Garden Committee
At Wyandotte First UMC, we have a memorial garden that has been a part of our church for 30 years, starting in 1995. It is for the use of our departed members, and their cremains are placed in thos honored space. The committee is in charge of planting spring flowers and maintaining this area from May through December.
The Hayhurst family have been participants since the very beginning of the memorial garden. Susan finds this a very meaningful way of honoring and remembering our past members and keeping a beautiful space for their final resting place.
If you enjoy growing a garden or working outdoors, please contact Sue Hayhurst through the Church office, 734-282-9222.

The Harry Dutton and Elaine Dutton Baxter Scholarship
The Harry Dutton and Elaine Dutton Baxter Scholarship is part of the Endowment Fund of the First United Methodist Church of Wyandotte and was founded in 1991 in memory of Harry Dutton.
It is awarded annually to eligible college/trade school student members of the First United Methodist Church of Wyandotte. The amount given is based on the monies available and the number of eligible applicants.
These scholarships are a love gift, not a loan. Our hope is that these gifts might continue to be available to encourage members of the congregation to pursue higher education. In the future those that receive scholarships may feel moved to help continue this ministry by making a financial gift to the scholarship portion of the Endowment Fund. The interest earned on dedicated monies is used to fund further scholarships.
Donations to the Harry Dutton and Elaine Dutton Baxter Scholarship Fund can be given anytime during the year via second mile giving or in leu of flowers on the alter.
