God is Up; God is In
Jul 9, 2023 • Rev. Philip Seymour
God is Up: When you pray for the needs of another person or community, you are becoming and advocate of that community before God. In essence, you stand in the gap between God and whoever you pray for. However, you are not pleading with God to do something. Intercession is partnership. You are listening to what God wants to do and then declaring God’s will over the situation.
God is In: God, in the person of the Holy Spirit, is with us in a very personal and intimate way. The God of all creation lives within us if we have committed our lives to him. He comforts us in challenging times. He teaches us his ways. And he enables us to serve him.
